The average is weighted by each poll's quality, sample size, and recency. The current 270toWin Polling Average shows Biden leading Trump by 3.1 points in the national popular vote. However, the race is much closer in the swing states. In the 11 swing states that will likely decide the election, Biden leads Trump by just 1.6 points.
The most recent swing-state poll was conducted by the University of North Carolina and published on July 14. The poll found that Biden led Trump by 4 points among likely voters in North Carolina.
