Nadine Menendez Trial Delayed Indefinitely
Corruption Case Hangs in the Balance
The bribery and corruption trial of Nadine Arslanian Menendez, wife of New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez, has been delayed indefinitely, just a day before jury selection was set to begin.
The decision came from Judge William H. Walls after a conference with attorneys for both sides, including Menendez's lead counsel Abbe Lowell.
Neither Lowell nor federal prosecutors commented on the reasons for the delay.
Nadine Menendez and her husband were initially charged in September 2023, along with three New Jersey businessmen. The charges stem from allegations that the Menendezes accepted bribes and gifts in exchange for political favors.
Sen. Menendez's trial began in September 2023 and concluded on Tuesday with a guilty verdict on one count of bribery.
The fate of Nadine Menendez's trial now remains uncertain, as the status of the case against the three businessmen is also unclear.
